6 years agoUnlike many standardized tests, the LSAT doesn't come with explanations. Lots of people (myself included) have stepped in to fill the gap.
I have a vested interest in this subject, since I've made explanations. But I'll do my best to be objective. Smack me with a rolled up newspaper if I seem too self-promotional.
There are four main sources for explanations:
- Google and LSAT Forums
- Print explanations
- Video Explanations
- Books and pdfs of explanations
A little known secret: google the text of any LSAT question, and google will find you some kind of answer. It might not be a good answer, and you'll have to dig around a bit, but you'll find something.
Usually, it will be an answer posted on a forum. The two biggest forum dealing with the LSAT is Top Law Schools forum.
Recently, I've started posting explanations for LSAT Preptests for free online. Here's what I've got so far:
If you need the preptests, you can find a list here: LSAT preptests
Video Explanations
7Sage LSAT started released their logic games explanations videos for free on Youtube.
More recently, 7Sage made a free logic game explanations page on their website. These videos are in HD and you can adjust the speed.
This led to a bit of a shake-up in the free LSAT explanations market, as LSAT Blog followed along with its own free logic games videos.
7Sage has better production values. LSAT Blog tends to be shorter. I'd check out both and see which style you prefer.
Lastly, you can find written explanations on LSAT Blog, Cambridge LSAT, Amazon, and LSAT Hacks.
Full Disclosure: My explanations for LSATs 19-38 and 62-72+ are sold on all of these sites.
LSAT Blog has explanations for every section. Here are the explanations for Logic Games,Reading Comprehension, and Logical Reasoning. (See the 'Books' section at the bottom of each post)
Cambridge LSAT sells explanations for $2 per section, generally. You can buy larger packages as well.
Lastly, I've released a print books of explanations for LSATs 29-38, 62-71 and 72+. You can find links for the print volumes at the bottom of the page here:
I won't say too much about them, except that if you like my advice on this subreddit, you'll probably like these books.
I keep an updated list here, in case this page ever gets out of date: LSAT prep books
You can also buy pdf versions of my explanations at LSAT Hacks. These cover 29-38 and 62-72+:
